Q: Why Electrolytic cells need Energy?
Ans: Because in
electrolytic cell there is only one electrolyte for both the electrodes, so red-ox
reaction cannot occur spontaneously and needs external energy to proceed. The
cations and anions present in the same electrolyte will not allow the oxidation
of electrode.
